How to find box truck loads
Box truck freight moves fast and the good postings are covered quickly. The drivers who stay loaded are rarely the ones staring at a board all day — they are the ones whose filters are tight enough that anything showing up is worth a call.
The filters that actually matter
A search that returns fifty postings is not a good search. Narrow it until every result is something you would haul today.
Equipment: box truck / straight truck
Select box truck (and straight truck, where the board separates them) rather than searching everything and skimming. Mixed results hide the postings you can actually take.
Max weight, length, height and width
Set the real limits of your truck. This is the single fastest way to cut postings you would have to decline after a phone call.
Lane and deadhead radius
A tight pickup radius around where you sit now beats a wide one around where you wish you were. Add your usual return lane as a second saved search.
Rate floor
Set a minimum total or per-mile rate so cheap freight never shows up. Reviewing it is time you do not get back.
Load-note keywords
Include terms you want (for example liftgate, no touch) and exclude the ones that disqualify you (for example team, hazmat, TWIC) so notes do the filtering for you.
Broker blocklist
Brokers you will not work with again should never appear again. Block them once and every future search stays clean.
Read the posting time before the rate
A posting's updated timestamp tells you whether the load is real. A straight-truck posting from four hours ago that is still on the board is usually either covered, mispriced, or has a detail buried in the notes. A posting from five minutes ago is worth interrupting your lunch for. Sort and judge on freshness first, then rate, then distance.

- Where do box truck loads come from?
- Most box truck freight is posted by brokers and shippers on load boards. The same boards that list dry van and reefer freight also carry straight-truck and 26ft box truck postings — you filter by equipment type to see them.
- Do I need my own authority to haul box truck loads?
- To haul for brokers directly you generally need active operating authority (an MC/DOT number), insurance that meets the broker's requirements, and a signed carrier packet. Without authority, drivers usually work under someone else's authority or on courier/final-mile contracts.
- What size loads fit a 26ft box truck?
- Capacity depends on the specific truck's GVWR and tare weight, so check your own door sticker rather than a rule of thumb. When you search, set a max weight and max length so postings that physically cannot fit never reach you.
- Why do box truck loads disappear so fast?
- Good straight-truck freight is often covered within minutes of posting. That is why the posting time or 'updated' timestamp matters more than the rate: an old posting is usually already gone.
